Ye didn't just come home to Chi-Town. On night two, he brought seemingly everyone with him.
The rapper returned to Soldier Field on September 4 for the second of two back-to-back hometown shows, performing in front of a sold-out crowd of roughly 70,000 people. According to "Vulture", 15 artists joined him throughout the night, turning the concert into something closer to a giant reunion of different eras of Ye's career.
And the guest list was ridiculous.
Chicago showed up
Ye opened the show with “Homecoming,” followed by “Can't Tell Me Nothing” and “Niggas in Paris,” before Chief Keef appeared for “Love Sosa” and “I Don't Like.”
From there, the surprises barely stopped.
Big Sean returned for “Clique” and “IDFWU.” 2 Chainz joined him for “Mercy” and performed “I'm Different.” Rick Ross came out for “Devil in a New Dress” and “B.M.F.” Don Toliver performed “OK” and “E85,” while Travis Scott appeared for “FE!N” and “FATHER.”
Young Thug later joined Ye for “Highlights” and “Lifestyle.”
But some of the night's biggest moments belonged specifically to Chicago.
GLC and Consequence reunited with Ye for “Spaceship.” Twista came out for “Overnight Celebrity” and “Slow Jamz.” Common performed “The Light,” while Lupe Fiasco joined Ye for “Touch the Sky” before performing “Superstar.”
It felt less like a normal tour stop and more like Ye walking through his own history in real time.
Then Kid Cudi walked out
The biggest reunion came near the end of the show.
Kid Cudi appeared alongside Ye for “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1,” before the two performed “Ghost Town.” Cudi then stayed onstage for “Pursuit of Happiness.” The pair smiled and embraced during the appearance, marking a very public reunion after years of tension between them.
Cudi had already revealed in July that the two were rebuilding their friendship, but seeing them together again - at Soldier Field, in Ye's hometown, with tens of thousands of people watching - made the reconciliation significantly harder to ignore.
Ye eventually closed the night with “Runaway.”
Because, obviously.
A very complicated homecoming
The spectacle also comes during an attempted return to large-scale live performance for Ye.
Chicago marked his first hometown performances since his 2021 Donda listening event, after several years defined as much by controversy as music. Shows elsewhere have faced cancellations, and Ye was barred from entering the UK earlier this year following backlash over his history of antisemitic remarks.
None of that disappears because Kid Cudi hugged him onstage or because 70,000 people screamed the words to “Runaway.”
But purely as a piece of hip-hop theatre, Chicago Night Two was difficult to ignore.
Across more than three hours, Ye pulled together collaborators from The College Dropout era through Yeezus, The Life of Pablo, Kids See Ghosts, Donda and his more recent work. The final stretch alone moved through Common, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi and some of the biggest records of Ye's career.
For one night, Soldier Field wasn't just hosting another Ye concert.
It looked like nearly two decades of hip-hop history had agreed to meet in Chicago.
