2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the processing of personal data in connection with thegayblog.com, Ghost Member accounts, newsletter subscriptions, passwordless member sign-in, comments, direct communications with THEGAYBLOG, and related technical and security functions.
External websites and services linked from THEGAYBLOG are responsible for their own data processing.

Depending on how you use THEGAYBLOG, we may process the following categories of personal data:
Website and technical data: IP address, date and time of requests, requested pages or files, referring information where available, browser and device information, response information, and security or diagnostic data.
Member and account data: email address, information provided when creating or managing a Ghost Member account, membership status, newsletter preferences, and information required for passwordless authentication.

Source and link information: information about how a member discovered or joined THEGAYBLOG and information associated with outbound-link tracking where these features are enabled.

4. Why we process personal data
We process personal data where necessary to operate, maintain and secure THEGAYBLOG; create and administer member accounts; provide passwordless member authentication; manage newsletter subscriptions and preferences; send newsletters, welcome emails and account-related communications; provide and moderate comments; measure newsletter engagement; understand how members discover THEGAYBLOG; measure interactions with outbound links; detect abuse, attacks and technical problems; respond to enquiries; and comply with applicable legal obligations.
5. Ghost Members and passwordless sign-in
THEGAYBLOG uses a self-hosted Ghost CMS installation.
Members may create and access an account using their email address and a passwordless sign-in link sent by email.
THEGAYBLOG does not use traditional member passwords for this authentication process.
Account information is used to provide member functionality, manage newsletter preferences, enable comments and protect access to member accounts.
THEGAYBLOG does not currently offer paid memberships.
6. Comments
Comments are available to signed-in members.
If you publish a comment, the comment and information associated with your member identity may be visible to other readers as part of the public discussion.
Please do not include information in comments that you do not want to make public.
Comment information may also be processed for moderation, security, abuse prevention and administration of the discussion.
Where comment notifications are enabled, email notifications relating to comment activity may also be sent.
7. Newsletters and email measurement
You may voluntarily subscribe to newsletters from THEGAYBLOG.
We use your email address and subscription preferences to provide these emails.
THEGAYBLOG currently uses email open and link-click measurement. This means we may receive information indicating whether an email was opened or whether a tracked link contained in an email was selected.
This information may be associated with your member or subscriber record and is used to understand newsletter delivery and engagement and to improve our editorial emails.
You may unsubscribe from marketing newsletters at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the email or by changing available member preferences.
Unsubscribing from newsletters does not necessarily delete your Ghost Member account or prevent communications that are necessary to operate or secure that account.
8. Email delivery providers
THEGAYBLOG uses or may use specialised email-delivery providers to send account-related emails, passwordless sign-in links, welcome emails and newsletters.
Where an external email provider is used, information necessary to deliver the message may be transmitted to that provider. This may include your email address, message information, delivery information and technical metadata.
THEGAYBLOG intends to use Mailgun for newsletter delivery.
Once Mailgun is fully activated in production, this Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary to reflect the relevant provider entity, processing locations and international data transfers.
9. Analytics and measurement
THEGAYBLOG does not currently use a separate general website analytics platform.
However, certain measurement functions provided through the website and Ghost are currently enabled, including newsletter open tracking, newsletter click tracking, member-source tracking, outbound-link tagging, and technical server and security logging.
THEGAYBLOG may introduce a general website analytics service in the future in order to understand readership, popular stories, referral sources and website performance.
Before such an analytics service is enabled, this Privacy Policy will be updated where required to explain the provider, data processed, purposes, browser storage or cookies, retention practices, processing locations and available privacy controls.
10. Hosting, server logs and security
Like most websites, THEGAYBLOG's infrastructure may automatically record technical information when you access the website.
This may include IP address, date and time of access, requested page or resource, browser and device information, referring information where available, HTTP response information, and information required to identify errors, abuse or attacks.
This information is used to operate and secure the website, troubleshoot technical problems, investigate misuse and maintain service reliability.
Technical and security data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes or where retention is required for legal or security reasons.
11. External links and embedded content
THEGAYBLOG may contain links to external websites or online services.
Simply following an external link means that you leave THEGAYBLOG and interact with another service. The operator of that service is responsible for its own data processing and privacy practices.

Information that you deliberately publish publicly, such as public comments or other public-facing content, may therefore be accessible beyond the main THEGAYBLOG website where the relevant feature permits this.
THEGAYBLOG does not treat this as permission to disclose private member or newsletter information publicly.

Personal data may be disclosed to service providers where this is necessary to operate THEGAYBLOG or provide the services requested by users.
